           Early Days: Digitising Practices in Europe

            My journey began in 1998, when I started training practices to implement software into their workflows. At that time, the focus was on helping

           dental and orthodontic teams

            digitise their operations and create a more streamlined patient experience. In the UK, I was responsible for developing and training a team that delivered annual training to over 1,000 mixed practices. This included not just the technical aspects of practice

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           management systems

I was fortunate to work alongside health economists to really understand what true KPIs mean for orthodontic practices. This foundation shaped my belief that sustainable growth requires measurable systems — a philosophy that still drives orthodontic consulting today.

           For several years, I had the privilege of lecturing at the largest European dental school. My role was to help students understand both the business implications of practice ownership and the importance of soft skill development for effective leadership. This was where I saw the importance of preparing the next generation of dental professionals not just clinically, but also in terms of business acumen and people management. Great leaders must always strive to build practice cultures of trust, accountability, and resilience — qualities that remain crucial for orthodontic consulting today. The most successful orthodontic leaders are those who balance patient care with business strategy, ensuring that teams stay motivated and aligned with their practice vision.

Today’s patients expect digital convenience, transparency, and personalised experiences. What hasn’t changed is the need for clear leadership, motivated teams, and a strong patient-first ethos. Practices that combine clinical excellence with outstanding leadership and business strategy thrive. These are the pillars of effective orthodontic consulting and the reason why practices continue to turn to experts for guidance.
